Sometimes you just need an escape from your house and the hot (or cold) outdoors. Here’s a list of indoor activity places that you might find helpful. I’ve separated by those within a 25-minute or so drive from Four Points and those outside of the toddler-friendly drive zone. As in all of my lists, let me know at angelique@fourpointsmom.com if I’m missing any places you love.
Along with added descriptions and photos, I’ll be updating with links to blog posts about our visits to and experiences with these places. Stay tuned!
Greater Four Points Area
Champions Gymnastics – Lake Travis
Champions Gymnastics – Westlake
We enrolled Parker in the KidSpark class last fall at Champions Westlake. The classes are much more gymnastics-based than Little Gym which worked really well for her at her age (2 and a half). The staff are extremely friendly and very supportive. The facilities are impeccable. I highly recommend Champions Westlake if you’re not afraid of doing the drive from the Four Points area (it takes almost 30 minutes from my house). We’ll be starting up again in the fall.
Crenshaw’s is the closest place for gymnastics to our house, and Foster enjoyed taking classes there last spring. We’ve also attended a birthday party there and the 5-year-olds had a blast.
Emler Swim School – Anderson Mill
Foster took lessons at Emler a couple years ago and overall it was a positive experience for us. He had friendly instructors who somehow managed to wrangle four three- and four-year-olds at one time. 🙂
We recently stopped in for $2 bowling games at High 5. The kids loved it!
Little Land looks incredible for young children plus it’s really close (near the 620 and 183 interchange). The cost to visit is a bit steep, but I might change my opinion after stopping by with the kids soon.
We tried Waterloo Swimming out for swim lessons last spring and we had an amazing experience. The instructor was great and the class size was even better (we ended up with private lessons most of the time despite only paying for group lessons). Plus, the Waterloo Swimming facilities are fantastic! We also went back from lessons this spring and summer. I highly recommend Waterloo!
Out of Bounds (A short drive away)
Hoppin’ House (S. Lamar)
Jump! Gymnastics North Central (183 and Burnet)
McKenna Children’s Museum (New Braunfels) – We LOVE this place. It’s definitely geared towards younger children and a long drive, but it was a fun day trip for us last summer.
Mt. Playmore (Round Rock area)
Mt. Playmore really impressed me! We stopped by a few months ago and we really liked it. Here’s my write-up of our visit.
Pump It Up (Anderson and 183)
Pump It Up is really big and great for bigger kids. However, there are some areas for younger kids as well.
Rolly Pollies (Bee Cave)
We’ve been to a couple parties at Rolly Pollies and my kids always have an absolute blast. It’s great for toddlers, preschoolers, and even young elementary-aged children. There aren’t many places that can entertain them all, so check it out if you’re hoping to find a one-stop shop.
Songs for Seeds (Bee Cave)
Songs for Seeds is incredible! As you might have seen, we had them come to Parker’s birthday party. However, we also had an absolute blast when we visited the class last winter.
Thinkery (East Austin)
We love Thinkery! The membership is the best money spent on entertainment for our kiddos. For $100 (and even less if you renew your pass during the renewal special), our entire family can take advantage of Thinkery’s exhibits all year. I highly recommend you invest in a membership or, even better, ask grandparents to gift one to your family for your kiddo’s birthday! Experience gifts are the best. Read my post about a recent visit to Thinkery to find out even more reasons why we love Thinkery.
Toybrary (Brentwood) – This great community resource not only allows you to rent toys, but they also offer a variety of activities including yoga classes for preschoolers!
