Spring break is this week! Yes, you read that right – THIS WEEK! There are a lucky few of you who already have travel plans in place and you and the family are headed somewhere sunny or snowy. Lucky you. Some of you aren’t going anywhere but you have already nailed down your child care plans for the week. Then there are some of you who are currently in the middle of a full-blown panic attack.
Well, don’t fret if you’re one of the many of us who are just starting to think about activities, camps, and events. Today I’m here to help you out. I’ve included a few events related to SXSW but I know there are tons more. If I missed something, please add it in the comments. We’re all in this together! 🙂
Spring Break Activities in Austin’s Four Points Area (and a Little Beyond)
Sportball Spring Break Camps
Classes and camps are so much fun with Sportball, where children can develop the skills and confidence to get in the game of basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, football, hockey, tennis, and golf! Ages: Currently available for 3rd – 5th graders

Price: $330 – $415, depending on membership status
Campers are divided into the age groups in order to provide the most developmentally-appropriate environment for them to play, learn and grow.
Camp themes are designed to grow with campers — in every single Thinkery Camp activities and content are differentiated for each group to maximize fun and engagement. As campers get older, they dive deeper into STEAM concepts and tackle more complex challenges and materials.

Piece Out: SXSW Paint Day
As the HOPE Outdoor Gallery spends its final months at its original location before being demolished at the end of the summer (the gallery is moving to Carson Creek Ranch), traditions are still being carried out in full-force—including its annual SXSW paint day. This year’s event, dubbed “Piece Out”, will take place on March 14 from noon to 5pm, and will be the very last of its kind held in the now-iconic Clarksville spot.
The paint day will host 30 to 40 muralists, street artists, spray experts and supporters of the gallery, who will all collaborate on a complete makeover of the space. A handful of DJs will be bringing the beats, and visitors will receive silent disco headsets that offer a tour of the outdoor gallery and its many artists.
“It’s one of the most exciting days for us all year because it’s breathtaking to see so much collaboration, creativity and community in one day!” says Andi Scull Cheatham, founder and executive producer of HOPE Events.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a HOPE event without a party. Following the paint day, visitors are invited to head to Native Hostel from 6 to 10pm to meet and mingle with the artists, including Kristin Freeman, GOMER and Miles Starkey.
The new HOPE Outdoor Gallery will open on a 58-acre ranch at the end of 2018. Until then, stop by one of Austin’s most beloved cultural institutions at its famed original spot—and maybe leave a mark for yourself as well.
Day: Wednesday, March 14
Time: 12 pm – 10 pm
Ages: All Ages
Location: Hope Outdoor Gallery, 1008 Baylor Street, Austin, TX 78703
