As you all know, I love restaurants with playgrounds. Who knew that one of my favorite things to do (eat a delicious dinner at a restaurant with my husband while someone else cleans up – woohoo) would turn into one of the most stressful experiences … with kids in tow? If you throw in a playground (along with a glass of wine if I’m honest) the stress dissipates. My mouth is still watering reminiscing of our yummy family dinner at Napa Flats Wood-Fired Grill last week.

5 Reasons We’ll Be Back To Napa Flats
1. The Atmosphere
Although the Four Points Area does have a long list of restaurants with playgrounds, this is one that you actually don’t feel like you’re in a kids restaurant! The interior is beautiful!
When we visited last time, we sat inside because it was pouring rain outside (what is with all the rain lately?). Being able to watch the chefs in the open kitchen and enjoy the overall aesthetics of the restaurant was fantastic.
This is certainly a step up from Flores (which I wrote about here) and a leap up from Rudy’s (which I wrote about here). But we didn’t feel uncomfortable eating with our kiddos in Napa Flats.
2. The Drinks (and Happy Hour)
Napa Flat’s drink menu is quite extensive and offers something for everyone. Their wine list is huge – they are named after the Napa region of wines and rightly so! We’ve tried a few different wines, beer on draft, and (my favorite) the Tex-Mex Tini.
As parents of young children, there is a perk of eating dinner before 7 pm and that is HAPPY HOUR!
At Napa Flats, happy hour is Monday through Friday between 3 pm and 7 pm. Their tap wines are $2 off, and many other drinks (draft beers, sangrias, house margaritas, frozen peach bellinis, and bloody marys and mimosas) are just $4.
3. The Food
Napa Flats is not only a great restaurant to take the kids, but the food and ambiance is great enough for a date night! As far as starters go, you can’t go wrong. The Wood-Fired Avocado looked beautiful and tasted just as lovely.
My husband and I also enjoyed the Chonburi Shrimp.
I will say that neither of these are very kid-friendly apps. The shrimp was a bit too spicy for the kids (but perfect for us). My kids snacked on the chips with the Wood-Fired Avocados though. If I go back with the kiddos I’ll probably order the Palo Alto Dip which seems akin to your typical chips and queso.
My husband ordered Tony’s Bow Tie pasta (for the second time) and was impressed again.
A couple months ago I tried he Chopped Kale Salad and it was delicious! This time, though, I felt like red meat and tried the Filet Kabob.
Wow! I loved this dish so much. The veggies tasted very fresh and the meat was perfectly juicy.
Of course, I also need to point out the Kids Menu. Foster and Parker went to town on their pizza and spaghetti and meatball.
As an added bonus, some appetizers are also included in the happy hour menu!
4. The Gelato
To top it off, the gelato was out of this world.
The gelato is made from scratch at Napa Flats and the taste shows!
We all shared this triple scoop, but if I’m honest I could have eaten it all. Don’t get me wrong – the size was fine. It was just that good! Kids get a free scoop of gelato with a kids meal too.
5. The Playground
The playground is one of the best restaurant playgrounds we’ve visited. I love that it’s enclosed and the log style is unique.
You can easily view the playground from the really nice covered patio area.
Plus, there are several tables closer to the table if you want to be within arm’s reach of “runners.”
As you can see, we truly enjoyed our visit to Napa Flats.
I will add that we had the privilege of meeting Tom Kenney, the founder of all Napa Flats locations. He was so welcoming and spent a good amount of time explaining the menu and recommending various dishes and drinks. The small-town, family environment of Napa Flats will ensure I’m back again!
Alright, I’m super excited to tell you that Napa Flats has provided one of my lucky readers with a free appetizer and wood-fired pizza!
