Friday Favorites with Four Points Mom (8-18-2017)

Happy Friday and thanks for checking back in on another edition of Four Points Mom’s Friday Favorites!

I seem like it was just yesterday when Fridays had me like:

Instead, these days my weekends consist mostly of refereeing this:

We’re pretty busy this week so today’s post is just rounding up a few few random Favorites.  No theme.  Just pure fun randomness!  So, let’s get to it.

Chuck E Cheese

I think the Chuck E Cheese of my generation’s childhood left an unfortunate stigma associated with pricey pizza and games, dirty facilities, and wild children running everywhere.  Well, the Chuck E Cheese by us at Arbor Walk is actually really nice!

Chuck E Cheese Ride-on

My friend Lacy and I were looking for something to do a couple Saturdays ago with our kids.  We planned to head to a nearby indoor play space but realized that we’d each end up spending about $25 for the expected hour and a half of play.  We decided against it and instead thought about combining the play time with lunch at Chuck E Cheese.  Best decision ever!

Chuck E Cheese Game

For about $30 total (split between the Lacy and me), we had an hour and a half of fun, 2 pizzas, and 4 drinks.

Chuck E Cheese Pizza

I wouldn’t say it was crowded but it wasn’t empty either.  The kids had a blast riding on the little rides and our older boys compiled tons of tickets to exchange for (yes, cheapo) toys.

Foster Chuck E Cheese

So, if you’re needing to get out of the house for a couple hours, Chuck E Cheese will keep your kiddos happy and not break the bank!

Solar Eclipse

I don’t know about you but we are getting excited about next week’s total eclipse!  In case you’ve been living in a bubble, next week a large portion of the U.S. will be viewing the first total solar eclipse witnessed in the U.S. in 99 years.

If you’re a geek like me, check out my Pinterest board for tons of activities and information about it.

Also, if you live in the Austin area, there are a few places handing out free eclipse viewing glasses (including Plugerville Public Library, Round Rock Public Library, and Warby Parker retail stores).  Lowe’s is also reselling glasses made by an approved vendor. I’ve heard the demand is huge at these locations, so you might look into buying them online instead, making sure they’re an approved vendor.  I found this pack from an approved vendor and it’s less than $80 for a 10-pack.  Expensive but you can split the cost with friends!

Here’s the American Astronomical Society’s page on how to view the eclipse safely in case you’re wanting advice.

Traveling with Kiddos

Over the past week I spent about 17 hours in the car with my kids.  And I survived!  Yay!  How so?  Well, I bought wireless headphones for them and they were a game-changer!

I’ve mentioned before that both of my kids have Amazon Fire tablets.  They are perfect for toddlers because they’re cheap and you have a one-year no-questions-asked exchange policy.  Foster has had headphones for awhile but he gets frustrated when the cord gets tangled and will just end up unplugging them.  For these road trips, though, I knew I wanted to get reasonably-priced headphones for both of them.  These worked perfectly.  They fold up easily so you can throw them in your mom-purse, no problem.  I highly recommend them for you if you have an upcoming road trip or plane ride!

Holderness Family Video

I’ve posted Holderness Family videos before because I think they are hysterical.  I wish I had their creativity (and energy).  Well, this week they released their latest back to school video and it might have be my all-time favorite.  If you’re in your mid-30s like me, you’ll enjoy jamming out to In Da Tub to the tune of In Da Club by 50 Cent.
