I don’t know about you, but something about the heat of July makes me think that treating my children (and myself) to cold treats on a regular basis is almost necessary and not at all unusual. I even compiled a list of favorite Dessert and Treat spots.
Growing up in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area, there were snow cone stands all over the place. Maybe it’s because it was somewhat of a small town and the quaintness of little snow cone trailers fit right in up there, but we had tons of options within a 10-minute drive. I’m surprised that’s not the case here in Austin’s Four Points Area. A few weeks ago, I noticed and started following a post on Next Door in which someone asked for snow cone recommendations. The name that kept popping up was Sweet Caroline’s Snow Shack at Anderson Mill and 183.
I thought, “What?!? That’s the closest one?!?” Apparently, it is the best one that is reasonably close because no other names were thrown out.
So, last week when I was driving back from lunch with my mom in Cedar Park, I decided my children really needed some more sugar … and it didn’t sound too bad to me either.

Thankfully, the Sweet Caroline’s trailer is a bright yellow or you might miss it altogether, nestled in next to an H & R Block. When we went around 6 pm on a Sunday, we had the whole place to ourselves.
It’s been awhile since I went to a snow cone stand, but the prices seemed fairly typical, ranging from $2.50 for the small (which is what each of us got) to $5.50 for an extra large. Seriously, though, who needs an extra large of syrupy ice? I know it’s delicious, but man I can only imagine the sugar overload that person must experience!
Amongst the three of us, we tried the tiger’s blood, pink lemonade, blue coconut and strawberry flavors. Parker wasn’t a fan of her pink lemonade and neither was I to be honest. But the rest were delicious. Plus, the ice really is the super fine shaved ice which I absolutely love. It just melts in your mouth!
Afterwards, we all left hyped on sugar and with red or blue tongues. Sorry, I didn’t take a photo of my awesome blue mouth for you. But, I’m sure you can only imagine by checking out my blueish teeth in the photo above. 🙂
All in all, it was a cute snow cone stand and we might be back if we’re in that area again this summer. The ambiance is a little lacking considering its proximity to busy Anderson Mill and 183, but it’s not high-class dining. Ha.
