Not that I need to explain why to many of you, but here are 4 reasons why Flores is a common sense destination when you’re wanting to avoid a mess in the kitchen:
1. The playscape
Flores and its neighbor, Oasthouse Kitchen + Bar, each have patios overlooking a shared playscape.
The playscape is new and shaded by beautiful, large trees and a canopy. It features two slides, a rock climbing wall, a fireman’s pole, a covered table area, four swings, and more. Posted signs inform you that you are required to supervise your children (of course), so if your kids will be playing on the playscape during dinner you will need to sit on the outdoors patio.
The patio overlooks the playscape, but it is raised above it and there is not a direct or quick path to get to the playscape from patio area. You and the kids have to walk around the downstairs play area to the sidewalk next to the parking lot to get to and from the playscape. For older kids, I wouldn’t consider this a problem.
However, for younger children it’s quite a hike and involves them walking next to the heavily-trafficked shopping center road. When we went last, there was quite a bit of trash all over the playground. I understand this could have been an anomaly, but there was enough around it’s worth mentioning.
2. Mexican food
Most kids I know like rice, beans, cheese, and chips.
Those combinations might not lead to the healthiest meal, but it will likely be a meal without tears. Plus, most adults like Mexican food too! I haven’t had an amazing meal here, but it’s never been anything to complain about.
3. Drink Menu
I love a good margarita and Flores has many options if you do as well. Plus, along with the food, their drink menu is very reasonably-priced.
4. Short Drive
Only 15 minutes away, choosing Flores for a weeknight dinner is a no-brainer!
So check out Flores and comment below if you have tips for other moms. Do you have a favorite meal or drink that you recommend? Let us know!
Flores is my kids favorite! We always try to go on a weekday because the playground can be insane on weekends. Flores is high up like Angelique notes so I don’t really trust the little kids going down there by themselves. Overall this is a great kid friendly easy weeknight place to eat. Also the Mexican martini is awesome! Food is fine- not bad but nothing you will be impressed by.
Great tip about the insane playground on the weekend. I’ve never been on a weekend and now I know to stick with the weekdays and nights!
