Before I start dishing (get it, we’re talking about food … he he) about Farmhouse Delivery, I guess I should reveal yesterday’s winner of the Zenergy Pilates Giveaway. So, who will be enjoying a zen state of mind?
Farmhouse Delivery
Farmhouse Delivery is a local Austin company that delivers to your door Texas-local organically-raised fruits and vegetables and sustainably-raised meats, dairy, and artisan groceries. Their unique and applaudable mission is to build a strong local food community by connecting members to the farmers, ranchers and artisans who produce their food.
When Farmhouse Delivery reached out to me about sponsoring a giveaway to my readers and letting me try out a meal-kit delivery, I was thrilled because the entire concept of a meal-delivery plans appeals to this working mom.
Farmhouse Delivery offers their members a few options, including a meal-kit delivery (which they call Supper Club) and produce delivery. As you might expect, Supper Club consists of a meal with instructions on how to prepare the ingredients for your family. The produce delivery consists of a box of fresh vegetables in season. You can also order a la carte.
I tried out the Supper Club option. With Supper Club, a driver drops off the ingredients at your house in a reusable shopping bag.
When you’re a Supper Club member, you get to choose from a variety of menu items. I chose the Poached Chicken Breast with Sautéed Kale & Green Beans and Roasted Ginger-Peanut Vinaigrette. I was excited to see what was in the bag!
The ingredients were kept cold with the frozen water bottles that they’ll reuse. With Farmhouse Delivery there is very little packaging and they encourage you to send back the bags and packaging at your next delivery so they can reuse it. Very cool.
And I must say I was a bit nervous because I’ve never poached chicken before, but the recipe was quite simple. We love green beans in our house so this was a yummy side dish I knew the kids would enjoy.
This meal was delicious. My kids even ate it without complaining or asking for ketchup. This is huge for us! The poaching spice they provided for the chicken was amazing. And it tasted perfect drizzled over the veggies too.
