Swinging By Anderson Mill’s El Salido Park

Swinging By Anderson Mill’s El Salido Park

I’m back with another Playgrounds & Four Points Mom post.  By now you might know that I’m on a mission to visit a ton of the Austin area playgrounds that are within a toddler-friendly drive zone of Austin’s Four Points Area.  On my Playgrounds & Parks Four Points Resource page, you can find a map and details about the playgrounds I’ve either already reviewed or plan to review.  Also, if I’ve already reviewed one, such as Sun Tree Playground, you can visit that blog post which will give you more details and hear what I thought about it.  But, let’s get back to today’s review of El Salido Park.

El Salido Park in the Anderson Mill Limited District of Austin

El Salido Park consists of a community center, tennis courts, pool, playground, and jogging trail. Located near 620 and Anderson Mill, it’s about 15 – 20 minutes from the Four Points Area (depending on the ridiculousness of 620 traffic).

I’m actually sad that we’ve lived here two years and hadn’t visited the El Salido playground until now!  The variety of play structures for all ages is incredible.

First up, there is a large playscape geared towards the older kids.  The rock-climbing wall is really cool (and it makes you feel like you’re kinda getting out of a special trip to Austin Rock Gym.

Plus, there is a slightly smaller playscape for toddlers.  The slides are a little less intimidating and the steps up to the playscape area easy for your little ones, like two-year-old Parker, to manage.

Unlike the Elizabeth Milburn playground, the separate play areas are very close and you can easily monitor kids on both the older and younger kid playgrounds.

And check out the two-person swing/ zip-line!  I’ve never seen anything like this before and neither had my kids.  It piqued their interest for an amazingly long time.  #winning

And the kids love spinning in circles.  I just try not to get sick watching them do so.

If you want to couple the playground trip with a walk with older kids or jog with the little ones in the stroller, the trails along the adjacent greenbelt will help you change things up a bit.

Plus, the tons of surrounding trees make it bearable in the summer heat.  My kids had a blast at the El Salido Playground and I’m sure yours will too.

You’ve got to check it out!  We’ll be back again soon to play and swim next door.  Check back for an update about El Salido Pool.
