Avoiding the Heat at Barnes & Noble

Avoiding the Heat at Barnes & Noble

The first Staying Indoors post on Four Points Mom highlights Barnes & Noble at the Arboretum.  Sometimes I need an escape from the summer heat, and Barnes & Noble is an easy way to get out of the house while enjoying some good ole A/C.  And there’s a Starbucks!  Have I sold you on the idea to spend a morning there yet?

The Barnes & Noble at the Arboretum has a large children’s area with TONS of books.  As I walk in, I can grab a magazine or a few books and take them with me to browse while the kids play.

Plus, there’s a train table.  This is a good and bad thing – it’s good because Foster will be busy playing trains for however long I want to stay but bad because he typically avoids the books.  At least, Parker seems into them.

Barnes & Noble also has a stage area for those with a flair for the dramatics …

Barnes & Noble at the Arboretum offers story times for kiddos, but it seems like most are on Saturday mornings (which are unfortunate because I’d love a reason to head to the Arboretum on Tuesday or Thursday mornings).  The store also has tons of great toys and gifts.  Even better, the toys are in a separate section that you can opt to avoid if you’re not in the mood to chase around the kids reminding them they can’t have every toy they like.

Here on Four Points Mom, I’ll regularly highlight local spots that are sure to keep your kiddos happy and, as a bonus, won’t require 10 minutes of sunscreen application.   Check back for more ideas and let me know of your favorite indoor spots.
